The Torn Page Revelation

A woman referred to as Mrs. X was experiencing a period of intense stress due to financial difficulties and a strained relationship with her husband. Her husband was unhappy at work and wanted to quit, and she was worried about their ability to support the child she was expecting. She had written to the Rebbe for a blessing but was initially discouraged when she did not find a clear answer.

During the intermediate days of Pesach in 1997, the couple had a heated argument over a religious custom. In a moment of frustration, the husband grabbed a nearby book and accidentally tore a page out of it. To their shock, the book was a volume of Igros Kodesh. Once they calmed down, they decided to read the page that had been torn out to see if it held a message.

On page 373 of volume 18, they found a letter in which the Rebbe addressed the exact issues they were facing. The Rebbe suggested involving a neutral third party to help resolve marital disputes and offered advice on how a husband might manage difficulties at work without quitting.

Most significantly, the final paragraph of the letter contained a blessing for an easy pregnancy and the birth of a healthy child at the right time. The couple was deeply moved. Despite later medical concerns raised by her doctor, Mrs. X held on to the blessing she had found on that torn page.
