The Lost Engagement Ring

A young woman who had recently become engaged was devastated when she realized her engagement ring was missing. She had searched her apartment, her car, and her workplace several times but found nothing. The loss was not only financial but deeply emotional, as the ring represented her future marriage.

She decided to write to the Rebbe and opened a volume of Igros Kodesh. The letter on the page discussed the importance of joy in a Jewish home and closed with a line advising the recipient to look among the laundry.

At first she was confused, because she had already checked her laundry basket and the washing machine. Still, she decided to search more thoroughly, looking inside every piece of clothing she had recently worn.

Tucked inside the cuff of a sweater she had worn days earlier, she found the ring. It had slipped off and become lodged in the fabric. She was overjoyed, and she took the mention of laundry in the letter as a sign that her small worry had not gone unnoticed.
