A middle-aged man had been suffering from debilitating chronic back pain for years. He had tried physical therapy, surgery and various medications, but the pain persisted, affecting his work and his quality of life. In a moment of desperation, he sought the Rebbe's blessing through the Igros Kodesh.
The response he found centred on the importance of daily Torah study, and mentioned the Tanya in particular. The Rebbe wrote that strengthening one's connection to the inner dimensions of Torah can bring blessing in physical matters as well. The man committed to studying a portion of Tanya every morning before work.
For the first week he saw no change. On the tenth day of his new routine, he woke and realized the pain was gone. He waited for it to return, and it did not. His doctors could not explain the sudden remission of his symptoms.
He continued his daily study and remained free of pain. He spoke of it afterwards as a remedy that had reached something the treatments could not.
