A Life-Saving Diagnosis

In 1997, Helen S., an elderly woman living in Brooklyn, suddenly developed a persistent fever that baffled her physicians. Despite multiple prescriptions and hospital admission, her condition deteriorated to the point where she was losing consciousness and failing to recognize her own family members. The senior doctors eventually reached a stalemate, admitting they did not know the cause and telling the family her fate was in the hands of G-d.

Following the Rebbe's direction, the family insisted the resident doctor be allowed to proceed. He ordered a bone marrow test that had not been previously considered. The test results came back positive for TB Meningitis, a condition that had been completely overlooked by the other medical staff.

Once the correct diagnosis was made, Helen was able to receive the appropriate treatment. She made a complete and remarkable recovery. The family credited the Rebbe's specific guidance for identifying the one medical professional who held the key to her survival.
